How We Started
Our founder, Judy, the Master, was trained by a French designer and has been designing and creating clothing since she was six years old. She started the Tentobi with her daughter, Bryn. They initially created Tentobi Tabies and catered to yoga practitioners and martial artists.
As a way of soothing her heart during the aftermath of the 9/11 tragedy, Judy started designing and making crocheted and knitted hats. In 2010, she developed a passion for designing purses, which she refers to as “beautiful creatures.”
Judy has obtained a trademark for Tentobi™ so that we can carry this brand name throughout our journey. She has trained her friends, daughter, and granddaughter in the art of creating our amazing items. Karen, the Apprentice is absolutely enjoying the process and will surely, lovingly help Tentobi achieve our dream of enjoying retirement.
We are women who are boldly taking a leap of faith into our future careers—retirement. However, we will not “go gentle into that good night.” We will roar like a lion while being as kind and as gentle as a lamb. Together, we will step back in time, slow down, as well as laugh and cry together, as artisans have been doing for thousands of years. We will age joyfully, sharing our wonderful journey with you.
